Chey's Story

I didn't always belong to my Mom. Before my Mom I hadda nother Mom. She got me when I was 8 weeks old and she took great care of me. Only problem was that she said she had allergies...whatever that is. I kept growing and that Mom kept taking really good care of me, but every so often she'd say something bout her allergies.

One day my first Mom was sad. She took me out to her truck and we went driving. We ended up at this place that she said was the airport. I didn't know what that meant so I stuck real close to her. She talked with some people and then they brought out this big plastic thing. She told me that I needed to go into it. So I went into it and she closed the door. I wasn't real sure what was going on and I thought I should be with my Mom cuz I was her assistance dog, but she said that I should stay in there and be a good girl. So I did.

These people started moving the big plastic thing that I was in and they took it and they wheeled it up a ramp and then they left me alone. I slept a bit, but it was hard. Things kept moving around and stuff. There was another part where they wheeled me out and then back in and then there were the things moving again. Finally, everything stopped moving.

This guy came and moved the big plastic thing around. He put the whole plastic thing on this other thing with wheels. Then he wheeled me around through a lot of places. Finally he wheeled me out into something that he said was the main terminal. There he stopped and took the big plastic thing off his thing with wheels.

This woman came up to the big plastic thing. She had another woman with her. She used my name and told me I was a good girl. I was still very uncertain about all of this moving around and I wanted to see my Mom again. This woman told me that she'd take care of me. Then she said she had to go pay the bill and she disappeared. A little while later she came back and she opened up the plastic thing and put my leash on. She seemed really happy and a little bit scared. I knew she couldn't be scared of me becuz I'm the nicest dog around, but something was definitely going on.

She took me out of the airport and she wanted me to get in the back seat of her car. No way was I going in the the back seat. I'm a front seat dog. No ifs ands or buts about it. So finally she gave up and stuffed the other woman into the back seat. Once we were moving I realized that I was kinda lonely so I crawled in the back seat and lay across the woman in the back.

We finally got to this place that she said was home. I could still smell my Mom on the leash and I was still a bit weirded out about this whole thing. She took me for a short walk, but I was stressed and I didn't have to do anything.

While we were walking I suddenly heard my name. She called me "kid" - I nearly died of shock. I barked and jumped up on her and licked her face. I think that was when I decided that she must be my new Mom and that I would take care of her. She got up at 3am to let me out to go to the bathroom. Phew...that was a relief.

I've been with her...my new Mom...ever since then. She takes me places and she takes care of me. I take care of her too. When she feels sad I lick her face. I sleep with her and keep her warm and she gives me good food and lets me have the last bite of her meals. When I'm sick she takes me to the vet. I don't really think I like the vet, but I usually feel better after I've been there. I sorta think she's a good Mom.
